President Speaks

Dear members,

Greetings from IMA Pune.

At the outset let me thank you for bestowing faith in me to take over as President of this prestigious, largest and most vibrant branch of IMA. It is an honor for me to lead this organization which has a rich legacy of 97 yrs.

I congratulate last Year team lead by Dr. Rajan Sancheti for the enthusiastic efforts.

I thank National President Dr. Dilip Bhanushali for gracing the occasion of my Installation Ceremony on 13th April 2025.

I am fully aware of the responsibilities of this post.

“Health for All” is the theme of this year. We will be conducting CPR training programmes and many social awareness programmes apart from Medical camps.

The academic activities will continue in the form of CME’s, conferences and Certificate courses by IMA Pune. We will be hosting “Hospicon” a state level Conference in the month of June. During our foundation weeks we will have cultural programmes as well as sports activities for our members.

Our team will have member centric approach. We will have “Zero Tolerance” approach towards Violence on Health care workers. Our Rush Team will be strengthened with proper liasoning with the Police.

Working on ease to operate small Nursing homes is our moto. We are aware of all the problems members are facing regarding MPCB, Fire NOC and Infrastructure rules that are added in the Bombay Nursing Home act recently. We will work very hard with the very active HBI team of IMA Pune. We will liaison with the PMC as well as Health Ministry Department to bring in single window scheme for Hospital Registrations and Renewal.

We have planned Mental Health Programmes for MSN and JDN as it the need of hour.

Unexpected and disproportionate public outrage through various political parties in front of DMH and Ashvini Hospital has shaken the medical fraternity to great extent. IMA Pune proactively got involved into the matter to support and help Dr Sushrut Ghaisas. We also released a strong press note to give clean chit to him. We could do this before any investigation committee report was made available.

Thankfully other associations followed our steps to support him.

Dear friends medical community is going through a very hard time and we need to be united to secure good atmosphere for our future generation doctors.

I seek your blessings and support for my tenure so that together we achieve our goals.

I assure you all that I will be Responsible, accountable and approachable throughout the year.

Jai IMA….

Know Our President

Dr. Sunil Ingale

Dr. Sunil Ingale

It gives me great pleasure to introduce Dr. Sunil Ingale, the new President of the Indian Medical Association, Pune. Dr. Sunil is a dear friend of mine and our friendship has been growing over the years.

In 1990, Sunil took admission for MBBS at Grant Medical College, Mumbai, and then did his post-graduation in Radiology from there itself.

He has been practicing as a radiologist in Dhankawadi and Warje, Pune for the past 25 years. His father, Mr. Madhavrao Ingale, is a renowned lawyer in Latur and his mother, Mrs. Kasturi Ingle, is a housewife. His better half, Dr. Mrs. Vaishali Ingle, is a renowned gynecologist herself and the anchor of his family. Both their children, Chaitanya and Ved, are pursuing medical education.

Sunil completed his schooling in Latur and from there he went to Mumbai for further medical education. While pursuing medical education, he also worked for the Student Council. During this time, he also became the Cultural Secretary and General Secretary of the Student Council. In this way, he set the stage for his further social work in the college world. While living at JJ’s Hostel, he got admission for many students from Marathwada, guided them, and provided them with accommodation in the hostel rooms from time to time, and he also made tireless efforts to ensure that needy patients got proper treatment.

Whilst running a thriving private practice in Pune, a voice in him told him to pursue his passion of helping fellow doctors and the medical fraternity at large, and that was his entry into serving his fellows in various capacities multiple organisations.

He started working as a managing committee member in the Pune branch of the Indian Medical Association about ten years ago. In the initial few years, he learned about the objectives, structure, working methods and history of the organization. After that, in accordance with his never say die attitude, he was a fighting member for whosoever was in trouble. Despite being calm and composed in all situations, wherever it demands, his voice and opinions are the loudest in the room. Many a times, it is an unfounded hubris that makes one feel that the organisation functions because of them, but Sunil never exudes such an attitude. His ethics of selfless service are definitely to learn from. While doing any work, his confidence, study, observational skills and practical experience make him a complete combination of someone to look up to.

In the 2019 MASTACON conference, when I was the organizing chairman, the question arose as to who should be the chairman of the ever so difficult stall committee. I left this responsibility to Sunil. My seniors were a little skeptical about it, but Sunil got double the stalls than expected and he justified my trust. This is just one of the examples I can quote of his efficiency and resourcefulness.

His work for the Radiology Association is well known. He has served as the President of the Pune branch of this association. During this tenure, he raised his voice against the oppressive provisions of the PCPNDT Act and saved many members from serious action due to minor errors. He is still working in this committee today.

He is also serving as the former President and Trustee of the Pune Doctors Association, Pune.

He has also held the positions of Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President of the Indian Medical Association Pune branch. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Hospital Board of India, IMA Maharashtra.

This ever-smiling Jagan Mitra is also an excellent cricketer. He is also a tabla virtuoso.

His work during COVID was appreciated by both the Maharashtra state IMA and the Government of Maharashtra!

We believe that such a leader of ours, who is not greedy for fame, who takes everyone along, who fulfills his responsibilities honestly, who finds and connects workers, will definitely enhance the image of our organization. I wish him all the best for his future endeavors. Thank you.
